The "Standard" vs. "Branded" Experience

Scenario 1: The Newsletter Signup

  • Standard: "Subscribe to our newsletter."

  • Branded (Chubbies): "Join the Fri-nally List. 0% Spam, 100% Weekend."

Scenario 2: The Add to Cart Button

  • Standard: "Add to Cart"

  • Branded (Beardbrand): "I want this." / "Upgrade my grooming."

Scenario 3: The 404 Error Page

  • Standard: "Page not found."

  • Branded (Lego): "Everything is NOT awesome. We can't find this page." (With a graphic of a disconnected Lego man).

Why Micro-Copy Matters

  1. Pattern Interrupt: It wakes the customer up.

  2. Likability: It shows there are humans behind the screen, not just code.

  3. Conversion: Changing "Submit" to "Get My Free Guide" reminds the user of the value, not the action.

Go to your footer right now.
Look at the "Subscribe" button.
Change it to something that promises value.

  • "Join the club"

  • "Get the secrets"

  • "Unlock 10% off"
