You spend days designing the hero image. You spend weeks on the product photos.

But you probably spent 3 seconds on the text inside your buttons.

In CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization), we call this Micro-Copy. It’s the small instructional text on buttons, forms, and checkout fields.

Here is the golden rule: Nobody wants to "Submit."
"Submit" sounds like doing taxes. It implies giving something up.

You need to rewrite your micro-copy to emphasize getting, not giving.

High-Impact Swaps to Test Today

The Boring Button: "Sign Up"
The Value Button: "Get My 10% Off Code"
Why: Reminds them of the reward, not the task.

The Boring Button: "Add to Cart"
The Action Button: "Add to Order - $49.00"
Why: Reaffirming the price reduces "cart shock" later.

The Error Message: "Invalid Field"
The Helpful Guide: "Whoops! Looks like you missed a digit in your zip code."
Why: Frustration causes abandonment. Personality saves the sale.

The "Click Trigger" Strategy

A "Click Trigger" is a tiny line of text directly under your main CTA button that handles the last-minute anxiety.

If your button says [ Buy Now ], put this underneath in small font:

  • “Ships free today. 30-day returns.”

  • “No account required.”

  • “Join 15,000 happy customers.”

This acts as a safety net for the hesitant click.

Your Homework: Go to your email popup. If the button says "Submit" or "Subscribe," change it to "Send Me My Code." This usually lifts opt-in rates by 10-15%.
